Inroads worked for me(Asian male)

Was a CCC(california community college) student with very little work experience and almost no extra curricular activies besides running my own companies. Ended up taking an offer with Metlife working for the group insurance end of the business. It was a paid salary internship and I was able to meet many senior management staff members. While also flying around the country during the summer, 3 trips total, nashville, new jersey, and chicago.

I'll be honest. I may not return to Inroads due to a lack of finance(ib, sa, type) internships. But without them, I doubt I would be getting the interviews that I am getting now, as a third year.

So I'm proud to be an inroads alumni and always willing to lend a helping hand to the organization.

When I was at inroads leadership workshops, I probably met only one or two community college students during the entire summer. That means a lot... in my eyes.

I highly recommend inroads if you're a rising sophmore or junior with no internship experience.

As far as the socal region, the majority of people I met were interning for the big 4. And there were a good handful of asians. The reason why there aren't as many asians is because the site doesn't list that it is open for asians. I e-mailed one of the counselors before submitting an application. And another reason is the mentality that people do not want to utilize a diversification approach to entering a company.

Take advantage of whatever opportunities are available......
If you have to bend over backwards to make the sale, make the sale....
