| SUNY New Paltz is within 30-40 min. of Bard as well. The town of New Paltz is very quaint with great restaurants. We visited both Bard and New Paltz on the same day. My daughter decided on New Paltz honors program after being accepted to both schools. Also in Poughkeepsie is Marist college. Woodstock is close by and another quaint town to visit. The Bard campus is very beautiful...be sure to check out the mansion on the Hudson river, I think it houses the econonmics dept. Bard also owns a warehouse in Rhinebeck that is used for art dept. shows and studios.
