Never said it was unwise... It's just that the mechanical engineering degree's a bit more flexible. You can get a lot of different jobs in different fields, including the aerospace industry, with a mechanical engineering degree. If you go for an aerospace degree, you're a bit more limited in your options (though you could probably talk your way into any job you're qualified for).

If you're certain you want to do aerospace engineering, there's nothing wrong about getting an aerospace engineering degree, though.
