CMU's BFA program is one that does NOT accept more applicants than slots available in order to yield the number they want in the program. This differs from most programs. CMU, for one thing, is rather a small program, and for another thing, many who get the offer take it and so they don't want to end up with too many. So, CMU puts out offers to the EXACT number they plan to yield (slots available). However, they do have what is called a Priority Waitlist for CMU's BFA program and those kids are notified around April 1 of being on this list (my kid got this). If a slot opens up because someone declines the offer from CMU, then CMU goes to fill it from this short Priority Waitlist. |
