There's one guiding principle for people who get into drugs: you just have to be strong enough to get out. This is what separates the addicts from recreational users. And that's the thing, really. Some drugs like weed really aren't too bad for you, like I said a lot of people exaggerate its dangers. Have you ever tried anything? Give them more credit than that, most of them know what they're doing.
There's a choice, academics or social life/vices. Personally I like finding a balance between the two, so not doing my absolute best doesn't really crush my spirit. Mind you, I'm still a pretty good student and I like to think of myself as a nice guy. Sometimes I just have a different way to relax, and as long as it's not harming anyone that's fine by me.
