EC's are not important but they certainly help. I say going to CCC is like a win-win situation with very small trade-off like losing the college experience. Having said that, you need to plan everything before taking your classes at CCC. Know what classes to take and know who you are gonna take it with. DO NOT rely on counselors because not all of them know what they are doing. Use all the resources available to you. Money is a big concern to me. I want to minimize my college expenses as much as possible. If you are like me, then CCC is the ultimate option, because either way you will save money. You do not need to maintain a 4.0 GPA; i would say 3.6-3.8 is sufficient (it depends on your major also). If you get rejected by UCB, you have your back-ups and you should apply for back-ups. If you ended up going to calpoly after CCC, it doesnt mean that the two years at CCC are a waste. It just means that you saved lotsa money. Planning and having the right mindset are the keys to success for transfers.
