| my good friend's mother works at ucsb, and she tells me that admissions really are not that random. as i understand it, some of the ucs use a point base system. sorry if this offends anyone, but stating that less qualified students were admitted over more qualified students is really quite rude and demeaning to those who have worked hard to gain acceptance into these establishments. nobody really knows what is on a student's application other than the student and the adcomm. what one person might consider under-qualified due to lesser sats and gpas, may quite possibly be kicking butt in other areas. we all know that the ucs put less importance on sats than gpas and would rather see a student who is going to contribute positively to the campus and student life, in lieu of a braniac that has committed his/her life to studying and lacks social skills. |
