| Is the US the only country in the world which doesn't have chip and pin? We had it in Australia in about 2000.
It is just a way of preventing fraud. All that happens is when you pay for something your card is inserted into a little hand-held box by the cashier. Then you enter your ATM pin number into the key pad on the box. It is so no-one can steal your card and use it by forging your signature. The cards also have the usual swipe strip on the back so they will work in the traditional way too. Really it is no big deal so don't worry about it. You don't specifically need such a card in Europe. Ordinary ones are fine. |
