| I thought UCLA's financial aid package was generous, but I still won't be able to go. My family is very low-income; I had an EFC of $0. I was offered about $15,000 from the school (an academic award they give to high-need students) and the highest amount of money the Pell Grant could give me (a few thousand). Unfortunately, I would still need to pay about $28,000. I don't want my parents to have to take out a $20,000 loan on my behalf (they included this in my 'awards' along with a $6,000 loan for me and work-study). If I don't get any of the scholarships I applied for, then I will be perfectly content with my state's college. |
