Stats:
  • SAT: 2030 (You better believe it! SATs aren't everything)
  • SAT II: Math IIc: 800 Physics: 800
  • GPA: 92.6% (Indian System, Not sure what that'd translate to)
  • Rank: Top 3
Subjective
  • Essays: Different I guess. About "blurring the lines" between art science and engineering
  • Teacher Recs: One was very positive. Other one was patchy.
  • Counselor Rec: Pretty fantastic I think
  • Supplementary Material: Reccomendations from my advisor professors in Math and Physics (From the Indian Instiute of Technology) which basically said I knew Math and Physics 2 years ahead of my time
  • Interview: I live in India for god's sake!! hehe
  • Hook(recruited athlete, legacy, Nobel Prize): I guess the supplementary materials said what my test scores couldnt.
Personal
  • Location: Madras India
  • High School Type: Private, Tiny and Rubbish
  • Ethnicity: Indian
  • Gender: Male
Other
  • Extracurriculars: Indian/Western Classical Violinst, Vocalist, Part time programmer/computer maintainence, Tennis, Sprinting, Photography, Network administration for a company and VoIP systems consulting
  • Awards: Nationally ranked well up on a few occasions in Math/Physics/Science olympiads, Couple of National Quiz wins, Multiple track and field gold medalist, A couple of computer projects for a couple of companies, Some other stuff that I put there too lazy to remember
  • Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:

If the SAT scores were everything there's not a chance in hell I would have gotten in. I'm pretty sure I will have the lowest SAT score of any admitted student this year (there is a weird reason as to why its so low but thats for later)

If you didnt get in, it means nothing. The applicant pool is so self selecting for this place that most likely you will get into a place that is absolutely fantastic. And honestly I think that when you're into the top institutions, you make the difference not the college.
