tj....I just want to explain that at many schools, including BOCO, they have accepted more students than slots in the class and so even if a student declines the offer (and some will), that doesn't necessarily mean that someone from the wait list will then get an offer to fill the slot. The schools have already built into their acceptances extra kids in order to yield their desired total class. Schools go to the wait list IF after all the replies come back and they have NOT filled all the slots. They can't 100% predict their yield and they accept a certain number based on prior years to yield a certain number but it is not an exact science. They only go to the wait list if they have not yielded the number they had hoped from the number they put out offers to. But many schools put out offers to more than they hope will attend (there are exceptions like CMU and Otterbein). You likely will not hear of movement on the wait list until after May 1 and it could even be later. Another thing that can happen is what is called "summer melt." A student may put down a deposit on BOCO for example, and intend to enroll, and then come later in May, get off the wait list at another school that he/she prefers and then forfeit their spot at BOCO and in that case, BOCO would utilize the wait list at that later date as the summer continues. I hope this explanation is helpful.
