| Decision: Accepted Objective:- SAT I (breakdown): 800 800 800
- ACT: N/A
- SAT II: 800 Math 2, 800 US History, 770 Physics, 720 Math 1
- Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.98
- Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/500
- AP (place score in parenthesis): World History, US History, Physics B (all 5s), taking Gov, Calc BC, Computer Science, English Literature, Italian, and Physics C this year
- IB (place score in parenthesis): N/A
- Senior Year Course Load: APs listed above + Chorus
- Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Nothing amazing. Some Harvard Model UN awards, National Italian Exam, National Merit Finalist, etc.
Subjective:- Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Model UN, Mathletes (VP), World Language Honor Society (Prez), National Honor Society (Treasurer), Key Club in 10-11, county math team
- Job/Work Experience: Assistant camp counselor, tutoring.
- Volunteer/Community service: Practically nothing...just a few hours from Key Club over the years and a little from NHS/mentoring program this year
- Summer Activities: Just a regular old assistant day camp counselor
 - Essays: Both were solid, though not amazing. One was about my MUN experiences (humorously starting with me walking into a pole...), the other about my lifelong love for math. Short response was about World Language Honor Society
- Teacher Recommendation: Fabulous, as far as I know
- Counselor Rec: Good I guess?
- Additional Rec: Sent 3 teacher recs, all were good.
- Interview: Went surprisingly wonderfully. Just a very laid-back coversation about myself; the woman lived in my town and said she'd never interviewed someone that good from my town. (Although...I did lock my keys in my car prior to the interview and not realize it...)
Other- State (if domestic applicant): NY
- Country (if international applicant):
- School Type: OK public. About 4-5 to Cornell, maybe 1 or 2 to Dartmouth/Brown in a given year out of 500.
- Ethnicity: White
- Gender: Female
- Income Bracket: Upper middle
- Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Nothing
Reflection- Strengths: Numbers, teacher recs
- Weaknesses: No "above and beyond" ECs or awards. Practically no research/community service
- Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Sometimes, just a 4.0 and a 2400 will do it. And I suppose I came across as a "real person" in my mildly humorous essays, as well.
General Comments: Congrats to all who were accepted, and if not, don't be discouraged! I was also accepted to Yale EA and Cornell, but I was waitlisted at Princeton and Upenn. |
