My d is an acting major at Elon and she also takes voice (1/2 or 1 hour per week is available) and dances at the highest level offered. She is able to audition for all shows. It is possible for an acting major to get all of the classes an MT major is offered, but they would have to pay extra and it may mean an insane schedule leaving little or no room for actually performing there. If you compare the two graduation requirements, the MTs take more music classes, while the actors vocal production/directing classes. D knows of one that has double majored in the past, I'm sure it can be done though I don't know that it is necessary and one would have to sacrifice a lot of the other wonderful opportunities in order to do so.
The opportunities to sing outside of the major are numerous as well, including acapella and various choruses on campus, if double majoring isn't desired. Remember that all important mantra here on CC that there are many ways to reach the final destination!
