BoCo Financial Aid

I've been making a round of calls to some of the schools my D was accepted to trying to get as much info on financial aid as possible. I thought it might be helpful to post what I found out from BoCo this morning for the rest of you:

If you were going to receive a scholarship, it would have been stated in the letter of acceptance that was available online over the weekend. The only way that you might be able to get one later is if one of the students who was accepted does not accept the offer of admission, and then the funds might become available to be awarded to someone else. However, it will be awhile before they will know if they have additional scholarship money available.

They have been evaluating the results of all the submitted FAFSA's. From that, they are determining the need-based aid. The gal told me they will be sending the aid packages out starting today and tomorrow. However, she said that the maximum possible for federal need-based "grant" type awards would be $7K. Anything else would be offered in various student loans and work study. She said that yes, their students pretty much have to plan on taking out loans. Hope this helps you all during the waiting process.
