You're going to have to check with a counselor at your CC. Check with a couple of them, because you might get the wrong information. Personally, I think most CC counselors are incompetent. Just check with them for IGETC certification issues, and pre-req equivalnce (ie. calculus I -> calculus II). Otherwise, you don't really need to as long as it transfers to your UC. Double check with ASSIST.

That is not true. Some UCs accept transfers for the winter/spring quarter depending on major. For example, UCLA Engineering accepts transfer for the winter quarter.

For some reason the UC's main website does not list available majors for winter/spring admissions for each campus, or at least I can't find it at this moment. Anyway, here are some examples:

Winter Quarter 2009 application deadline: Thursday, July 31, 2008

*Note: Check the Admissions web site in June to see whether applications will be accepted and/or if restrictions apply to winter quarter applicants. UC Santa Cruz does not typically accept applications for spring quarter.

3. UCD Winter Quarter admissions is open only to students with pre-approved, signed Transfer Admission Guarantees (TAGs).

4. etc.

As long as you meet the requirements, and your major is open for admission, you will be able to transfer.
