I also think that applicants should take risks on their essays and portray who they REALLY are--because if the college doesn't like it, it probably wasn't right for them.
When it really comes down to it, I think that colleges at the top tier get 9283743453 students who are all qualified academically, each one of them with 82974832 EC's and it's really up to the essay to make the applicant memorable. So if you're going to go out, you might as well as go out with a boom. ;D
