But it's probably better for people not to get their hopes up unrealistically. I believe that last year there were about 800 or so on the waiting list, so the chances of being admitted from it were pretty slim.
However, this is an unusual year for Penn admissions in that it was difficult to predict the yield rate with Harvard and Princeton dropping early admissions and several of Penn's peers--along with Penn--significantly expanding their financial aid programs in recent months. Penn did admit about 170 kids more than last year to try to compensate for the anticipated lower yield, but who knows? It's always possible that they may have to rely on the waiting list more heavily than in the past few years. |
