| Coincidentally, I was just working on our little storage problem this a.m. Normally, my husband and I drive up to Chapel Hill and help ldgirl move her things into a little locally owned storage facility near the campus. We make the drive because she doesn't have a car, we enjoy visiting Chapel Hill (even during dorm move-out), and because we need to prepare her Vespa for storage (tune-up, fuel additives, etc...) This year, can't do it. DH is out of the country and our son has battery tryouts. Both sets of grandparents are in various stages of recuperation from major illness so they cannot help out. She will have to fly home with what she can fit in two suitcases.
I've spent a week on the phone trying to find someone to move her belongings and was getting a little desperate. Finally, the owner of the storage place took pity on us and agree to move her belongings in his truck. The only trick will be prepping the Vespa...but high time she learns to do it herself. A little mechanical know-how never hurt anyone.
Altogether we are paying $75 a month for a 5x10 unit and $65 for the mover. Flights are always free for us due to the bazillion frequent flyer miles dh has racked up. Excellent deal all around. |
