It doesn't matter if your 18 or not
If your in high school you can be 23 and have the same availability as a 16 year old (Ridiculous corporate policy. If you are in high school no matter how old you or what any work permit says, no later than 10 and no earlier than 7 or 8, and no shifts longer than 4 hours).
Some managers bend the rules, some totally disregard them
my stores district manager came down on my store for it apparantly so byebye hours
The job is cool I guess
but sometimes just aggravating
but I love the people I work with
but the corporate policies are whack
and was happy to find out that McD iced coffee is way better (o well!)
there are quite a few sub18 year olds that work at starbucks
so go anyways
either fill out an app and hand it to the manager and let it be stuffed into a pile of 3904320 others
or go to a hiring event (how my district does it at least)
where you will be interviewed by managers at stores that need people.

They like smart people
somehow let them know
when my manager has hired idiots, they dont last
