Not if you have a plan that is not local. Most cell phone plans these days have national plans and you can call anywhere in the country on them without being charged long distance roaming fees. If you have a local plan give your provider a call and see if you can switch to a comparable national plan. Most college kids use national plans so that you can call your friends who will have all kinds of different area codes. Store the numbers so you don't have to plug them in each time. Unlimited text messaging is also a very good idea.
