CMC is so very different a place than either Carleton or U Chicago - it is the consummate pre-professional school. The student body there has a significant (uniquely so) preponderance of self-selected future lawyers and businessmen/women. The vast majority major in econ, gov't and business (where their departments are quite strong) or other social sciences. Just a smattering make use of the Keck Science Center (joint with Scripps and Pitzer). The school admits with a careful eye to "leadership" skills demonstrated in H.S. (lots of class presidents, mock trialers and debaters) and that helps define the student body. Not surprisingly, the faculty and student body tend to be more conservative than the rest of the Claremonts. The school will definitely prepare you well for the future career you describe. Just make sure the fit is right for you.
