| Senior year internship?
I'm about to graduate HS, and for a summer job, my parents have somewhat encouraged me to try and work with Fluor (engineering/contracting firm) since I will start off as an engineering major. The thing is, the only reason my parents are considering this is because my dad knew someone who works there, and I basically went in 1 time last year to talk to this guy about engineering and what he wroks on, what does an engineer do, stuff like that. I've had no other contact with him, other than a letter to thank him for his time, so I think it would be awkward to call him up and ask about any summer job opportunities, or if he'll even rememebr who I am. I'm just considering working somewhere locally, like a grocery store/sporting goods store, as I dont even know if I'll be able to do anything meaningful at this company. Would this possible internship/summer job mean anything to engineering recruiters (or analyst recruiters as I'm thinking of doing economics possibly) 4 years down the line? |
