My son also used to live in a house with a bunch of other guys who were filthy and he ended up not being able to use the kitchen either, which led to food he could prepare in the microwave/fridge he kept in his bedroom and a lot of eating out ($$$). I think this is probably a common problem and not one a parent can predict. If you can buy the minimum food plan for at least the first semester, it might be a good idea.
