| momofkp, it's true that the studios don't want you to miss class. If, however, your schedule permits, you can go on other days of the week and weekends. Both professional shows and NYU shows. I'm in CAP and subscribe to backstage magazine, where the auditions are listed. Spring semester 2007, I went to several auditions and callbacks, especially for summer stock companies. You're not going to be able to go to 2 auditions per week, but 1 or 2 a month will fit into your schedule.
My goals are certainly to train, but I chose NYU for the location...It would be a shame to not take advantage of the opportunities, including the auditions!! It's excellent practice! Even if nothing comes of it, I look at auditions as free dance class! |
