Typically, any drop in grades will raise a red flag. Getting into a university does not give a student the privildge to slack off. This said, dropping to below a 3.0 will probably prompt the admissions office to send out a letter asking for an explanation. Failing a couple of courses could lead to the university placing a student on probation upon entry or even rescinding the offer altogether.
