| #1 - the buildup, as you get closer to moving to your new home, is going to be an emotional rollercoaster - some days you'll be scared, some days you'll be REALLY excited, some days you really won't care
#2 - During the summer after graduation, spend as much time with your HS friends as you can. You'll likely keep in touch with at least a couple of them through college, but the relationships will change as you grow older.
#3 - The first two or three weeks of college are one of the few times you should feel like you can go and talk to ANYONE you see and not feel socially inept. Everyone is looking for the exact same thing you are: new friends.
#4 - Even if you aren't very outgoing - FAKE IT 'TIL YOU MAKE IT! Seriously, make yourself go to parties or talk to people or whatever. This is not the time to assume that things will just happen if you let them - get after it and make it happen.
#5 - The biggest difference between HS and college classes is speed, not necessarily harder material (though that can be a factor too). |
