| a part of me wishes i applied to uci. in terms of people talking about UCs, i've only heard people talk about ucsb and not uci. in terms of rankings, i've heard ucb is first, then ucla, ucsd, and ucd/ucsb were tied - recently, i've heard uci tie with them.
it really comes into individual programs. i have seen uci rank within the top 10 or 20 in a few programs on some site that someone posted on cc. best of luck to all! forgive me if this didn't make any sense, i have been drunk posting tonight.
