Are the professors almost always willing to help you clarify any questions you may have concerning a subject matter that's not well understood? I ask this because I have a physics teacher here that tells us to go "shoot ourselves," or that we should be "shot" for not understanding some concepts he covers. I would hope that the professors at UCLA don't go to that extent to ridicule their students, or make it hard for their students to approach them with questions.
I don't want to generalize, but no one ever goes to professors' office hours in Computer Science unless it's regarding a grading dispute, or it's for CS 31/32/33 where the specifications aren't quite clear. I can't speak for the other engineering departments, so I'll just leave it at that...
