| I was shocked when I was waitlisted too. My gpa and sat's fall within their range. My essay was really, really well done. I attended Drum Major Academy over this past summer there and intended to do color guard there. I even emailed the band director. And my own band director made a phone call reccomending me.
I recieved my letter about a week and a half after my app status page changed. There's actually 4 options you can choose from: 1. to decline the waitlist offer. 2. to take the waitlist offer. 3. to take the spring 09 admission. 4. to take both the waitlist offer and the spring 09 offer.
I also heard they waitlist about 3,000 (10% of the applicants) students. They start notifying people in mid-may (In UMass terms, I've learned, that really means in June) and will send most offers by july. But there's a possibility that you will hear later since kids drop out last minute sometimes. |
