| Even if there are people addicted to pot, it's probably a small minority. Just like there's a ton of people who drink but in comparison not many alcoholics. Plus, alcoholism is often genetic-- people with alcoholic parents are more likely to be alcoholic themselves because of inherited physiological attributes (same reactions to alcohol in the same part of the brain, etc). Cigarettes are different because nicotine is physically addictive. And yes there are people who aren't addicted to cigarettes because they smoke them so infrequently, but the overwhelming majority of people who smoke ARE addicted to them. This is why it's so hard for cigarette smokers to quit smoking. They have a physical need for the nicotine. |
