With the exception of Southwest Airlines, all of the major carriers -- Delta, Northwest, US Airlines, Continental, United -- will permit JUST ONE CHECKED BAG free of charge, starting on that date. (You can still carry on one bag plus a "personal item" such as a purse or laptop.)
Some of the airlines will still permit you to check a second bag free of charge if you buy a first-class or business-class ticket or if you have "Elite" Frequent Flyer status (meaning you fly beaucoup miles per year). |
