(I'm assuming you're talking about running XP on a mac through boot camp? If not, disregard this)
Keep in mind this could also be due to the fact that the processor speed is kept at full when running XP on a Mac. On other computers, depending on your battery settings, the processor speed is throttled so that battery isn't wasted. This isn't the case on a mac running XP.
