| It will absolutely help you out. Some points:
-The best contacts to make are obviously with the bankers - this may be difficult. However, if you can befriend some of the Human Resources staff or some MD's in IT, they know lots of people in front office and can definitely help to get you interviews later on. Getting your foot in the door is half the battle anyways.
-No matter what you do, working at Goldman Sachs at age 18 is very impressive for your resume. It's a brand name that people in all levels of finance respect. It will look good, even if it's back office, when you're applying to other internships that may be more relevant to I-banking (e.g. after your sophomore year). Having experience with the firm already always helps as well.
-With regards to networking again, since you're from a state school you will likely have at least some alumni working in front office at GS. If you can set up an informational interview with them at such a young age, demonstrating your interest in the field, it will make you stand out and they can help you break into the field.
Not to be out of line, but if you want to work in finance, you would be an idiot to turn down this offer.
