1) I can't be more specific than that the schools should be based on overall academic strengths, that they offer comprehensive range of degrees/programs in arts, sciences and engineering. Most of the top uk schools are comprehensive as well, except LSE that's more into economics and Imperial more into engineering, and so are the us schools. most lacs also offer both arts and sciences. the only notable exceptions are really lse and imperial.
2) i know uk schools curriculum requires students to be specific in their study program from day one while us schools want students to explore other options in arts and sciences during their first two years before being committed to the major. but this is why int'l students need to go thru the decision making process between the two different schools of thought. without or without the combined list, int'l students who want to consider applying to both will have to make a decision some time along the way.
3) differences between large nat'l, comprehensive universities, be it uk or us, and small, more personal lacs still exist and remain unchanged, with or without the list. even among us students, they still have to go thru the same decision making process once admitted, if applying to both large comprehensive Us and small lacs. so that's a bit irrelevant.
4) remember i said this thread is pretty much for int'l students who a) want to consider applying to both uk and us schools b) would like to see the list of about 30 or so schools combined from both to make comparative decision. out of all 3.0 million plus american hs graduates, very very few indeed would consider applying to both while uk students are least likely to consider applying to both either. this thread is for neither of them. it's mainly for int'l students, each year totalling hundreds of thousands coming to us and uk for higher education.
maybe not enough int'l students who consider applying to both come participate in this thread. maybe they'd rather have two separate lists, each one going thru their own individual application process. once accepted to both uk and us schools, then they can decide in the final stage where they want to go to. maybe that's the case.
and if that's the case, then we'll know that they'd rather do the lists separately and make final decision if and when admitted to both. And that's completely understandable!
i don't think idiots would bother posting on this board but some smarties might act like one though.
