| teriwitt, I know that in 2006, they lost 21 horses in a little over 3 months at Arlington. They put in a synthetic track after that and I haven't heard the numbers since then but I know they were down from the '06 season. I think Del Mar was losing about one a day in the beginning weeks of '06. They went to synthetic too I believe. Hundreds of horses are euthanized every year at the tracks and hundreds more are lost in training so serious injuries are not rare. |
