| We get tons of credit card applications for S1 in the mail everyday. It seems the companies use the home address rather than the college address. We recently bought a paper shredder and just run it (and all the other junkmail w/our name/address) through and dump it.
You should also definitely discuss with your student exactly what to do if their wallet is stolen/lost. S1 has lost his wallet twice in three years of college. Both times he immediately called the bank/credit card companies to report it and have stops put on the cards. Remind kids to do this right away even before bothering to call Mom and confess that wallet is gone. Someone could be out using all their cards etc. while they are spending time on the phone with you asking for advice and getting phone numbers. |
