Thanks - this is my feeling about it as well.

One thing I noticed in researching schools is that a BS in EE can lead to a career in CE or EE, and also can lead to a masters in CE or EE, but the same isn't true for the reverse. I guess the trade-off is you're more likely to find work in software development with a CE than an EE. Still I find the hardware side more interesting.

One other thought I had was: if I go the route starting off with the EE diploma, which takes 3 years to complete, and then transfer to university for a bachelors in compEng, the university would more than likely have me start more or less at the bottom (I might only get a couple of transfer credits). With the CE diploma, which also takes 3 years, I would only receive transfer credits equal to one term, so only a half a year, and thats going directly into CE from CE. So looking at it that way I would still have a bachelors in 6-7 years with either route, one route giving me a firm foundation in EE and the other not.

Still the fact remains if I went from EE diploma to EE bachelors, or CE diploma to CE bachelors, I would be much more likely to be allowed to transfer before I finish the diploma - which is appealing because i'm wary of spending 7 years just to get my bachelors.

I think i'm making this way more complicated than it ought to be !

Thanks
