| "Well, I've browsed this whole thread, and can tell you that, if I were a prospective student there, I wouldn't get a warm-fuzzy feeling at all about Columbia's school spirit or camaraderie! Does this "sniping" go on at all levels, or just between CU and Barnard students?"
I think rationally certain CC and seas students get a little irked when barnard students say they go to columbia. But what you see on this board is a rational discussion not indicative of barnard-columbia relations, when interacting it doesn't really matter whether or not barnard is officially a part of columbia. There's no sniping or anything, in general students get along regardless of college affiliation. I've seen a few columbia girls roll eyes at a barnard girls but it's infrequent. I have several barnard friends, and have hung out at Barnard with only barnard students on several occasions. there's no real tension as far as i've seen. In fact that's one of the things I like about columbia - that people here (at least socially) are not school conscious, as an overall trend, I never found an air of superiority derived from going to columbia, maybe from other things, but i've had freinds visit from 'less prestigeous' schools and they too were treated no differently than other columbia students. |
