| If there's a good college nearby, contact their French department and ask them what textbooks/grammar books are helpful for that particular level. I heard of one called "BLED" that's supposed to be really helpful. You're probably looking for beginning/intermediate French.
Also, find out what the AP books are. If you like any popular, simply written books in English (like Harry Potter), see if you can find a French translation. Or read something easy to understand, like "L'etranger." That's a great way to pick up vocab.
Find these books at the library, and teach yourself out of them. For listening, watch a bunch of French movies and listen to a lot of French music. See if you can find any French children TV shows.
Also, go online and find streaming French radio/TV news broadcast. Listen to it as often as you can. Read French newspaper articles, especially if they deal with subjects that your'e interested in.
