Bioengineering

i'm in a bioE program at an elite university... i have a few concerns about whether or not to continue with this major. i'll list them haha

1. i've heard bioengieering isn't as well-respected as more "traditional" engineering disciplines (chemE, MechE, etc.), will bioengineering hurt me in terms of getting a job (in business, or engineering, basically anything)
2. bioengineering is ranked much higher than the other engineering programs at my school... the other ones are all in 1-30ish but BE is consistently top 10 to top 5. how much does this matter?
3. is BE useless as an undergrad degree? i doubt i'll get a masters in engineering... so should i just stick with the traditioal engineering majors?
4. biotech prospects... any comments?

ok that's it. thanks for the help!
