OK- It was enigma/edifying. This was a line reference question, it was clear that in context fable did not mean a fabrication. Although fables are often fabrications, the reading sections tests your READING COMPREHENSION, and tests your ability to look beyond a familiar definition which you've previously attached to a word. In the context of the line, fabrication made NO SENSE.
