| Bigweight,
I agree with robbyg ... your academic credentials speak loudly stood alone. When you factor in your Hispanic background, combined with your first generation college status, you should prove attractive to Emory. Your SAT scores are about average, but consider re-taking.
Regarding your Hispanic ethnicity, I think that it is perhaps the most under-represented of the URM groups at Emory. In recent years, the Hispanic population of Atlanta has grown significantly (as it has in many other urban centers throughout the U.S.); however the representation of Hispanic students enrolled has not kept pace. Though Emory has done a great job in years past in attracting top students of African-American heritage, they recognize that there may be a short-coming regarding their recruitment of top Hispanic students. The administration at Emory intends to remedy this, and thus you have added leverage.
Unfortunately, your 11 AP courses is not good enough... and will likely get you rejected... NOT! ;-) If there's one thing that Emory has been consistent on in Admission factors, it is that they like to see students challenge themselves to the academic rigor available. In your case, you appear to have done what you needed to do. Good luck to you! |
