Last year in AP Chem we had the same things, and all of us pretty much screamed as well. but the thing is, if your teacher gives you the kind of practice you should have, by the end these rules will bu stuck in your head forever. We just had to do so many examples that we memorized the rules along the way without even trying, so to speak.
Eevn so, it is useful to know them beforehand
