It depends on the school. Some might count it in your GPA, but I'm guessing that most do not. My CC didn't count P/NP classes towards GPA. However, I have heard that those transferring into a CSU such as SFSU would see SFSU count a "Pass" earned from CC as a "C" grade. I have no idea if it is true or not.

I've heard you should not take a major pre-req as P/NP, so if you need that statistics class as a pre-req for transferring into a specific major, take the letter grade instead. If you are taking it to fulfill the math (or some other) GE or for general interest, then P/NP should be OK.
