| Asian American parents tend to equate prestigious colleges and universities with wealth and social success, and thus tend to "encourage" (more like force) their kids to perform better in academics in order to achieve economic success.
Thus, we have the obscene amounts of over-achieving Asian kids with insane test grades and GPAs who have no clear goals in life other than to become a doctor, engineer, or lawyer (i.e obtain wealth).
