I spent a summer at BU, and while I liked it, I had the following negatives:

Lack of campus-depends on the individual, whether you prefer a well-defined campus or a complete immersion in the city

Expensive City-Most of the nearby stores to BU were often upscale and very expensive, not specifically tailored to the average college budget

Warren Tower-very crowded/small dorm rooms and monotonous food schedule in the cafeteria

Here are the positives:
Boston-amazing city with numerous cool places to explore (historically and for those who want to go shopping on newberry st)

Red Sox proximity-the games are AMAZING

close to MIT and Harvard-Cambridge is a very nice college area with a bunch of cool shops; very close to BU if you take the T

nice down-to-earth students and staff; very willing to help you out
