As for having time before classes begin, I think it's a good thing. I would hope that there are some activities planned! My D thought it was all pretty lame, but it was a good way to get the kids mixing. D's was a full week, which she thought was too long. In fact, the school shortened it this year. A full week gave her a bit too much time to dwell on loneliness.
