I wish my D would swim in college.

My daughter has pretty much devoted herself to dance since about the 4th grade...first in private company, then added drill team in middle school and HS. She's only in 10th grade, but she says she has no interest in doing college drill team or any other type of dance after HS. Funny that they can love something, but then know when they want to be done.

The younger daughter was a gymnast for 8 years....the schedule is like swimming....3 hours a day, 5-6 days a week, 12 months a year, only a few holidays....She retired last spring and hasn't looked back. It was such a huge part of her life, and now she's just over it. I think it's easier for them to give up some of the activities than it is for us sometimes. (I was watching her cheer at a basketball game a few days ago, pondering the fact that I really don't have friends among the parents of the girls her age...the people I bleacher bonded with are the gymnastics parents and now I never see them!)
