To your first question, yes.

To your second question, it depends. We have four different calc sequences, so we usually recommend students take the placement exam to make sure they're placed in the right sequence. You lose nothing by taking it; if you want your credits to override the exam, they can; but the exam might place you, for example, into the three-course Calc sequence instead of the two-course sequence, which, if you're not a mathy person, might be a better bet.
