  • Job/Work Experience: I worked at a calling center last summer
  • Volunteer/Community service: I volunteered as a Research Assistant for two Psychology Professors last summer. I have hundreds of service hours and organize many youth and community action/activist projects.
  • Summer Activities: Calling Center, Research Assistant
  • Essays: EC: How I promote human rights/activism with Interact;
    CommonApp: My beard -- and how it's taught me that no stereotype can constrain me;
    Yale Supplement: My empathy with strangers (creative piece)
  • Teacher Recommendation: 1st- Should have been excellent. He said he felt like he never taught me anything because I already knew it.
    2nd- Pleasant, but I don't think he's a good writer...
  • Counselor Rec: Fantastic
  • Additional Rec: Interact Club Sponsor-Glowing; I'm one of her favorite students from the past 21 years
  • Interview: On Campus-Exciting. I think he was impressed that I had arranged meetings with profs/department heads on my visit and that I had conducted individual research in Psychology.
    Supplementary Material: I submitted a Graphic Design Portfolio (I manage my own website) and 3 of my poems
Other
  • Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
  • Intended Major: Women's , Gender, & Sexuality Studies
  • State (if domestic applicant): TX
  • Country (if international applicant):
  • School Type: Large Public
  • Ethnicity: South Asian
  • Gender: Male
  • Income Bracket: Middle Class
  • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None
Reflection
  • Strengths: My essays were very, very creative. I'm positive that they show an unadulterated portrayal of who I am. I'm also quite weird (I guess you could say unique) I have a lot of eclectic tastes and have done a lot of human rights work in high school.
  • Weaknesses: You tell me?
  • Why you think you were deferred: I have no idea...perhaps because it's Yale and the applicant pool is so strong.
General Comments: Majorly bummed . Yale was definitely my first choice. I'm not sure what else I could have done differently. This sucks.
